Australia makes wonderful fresh and fruity wines at popular prices. International currency movements and the need to irrigate vineyards, means that she can no longer compete at the lowest price levels. However, for many years now Australian growers and vintners have been moving into cooler climate areas with natural rainfall where they are able to attain pure fruit expression and more distinctive wines from lower yields of more healthy, less heat stressed vines.
