My Holidays in Blackpool by Tram 1954 - 2009
Usually printed in 3 - 5 business days
When I began to visit Blackpool as a very young boy there were four tram routes and virtually all of the trams were as built and wore the standard Blackpool livery of green and cream. Within a few years changes were taking place, culminating, in the early 1960’s with mass route closures and the demise of much of the fleet. Also, I wanted to record photographically the remaining Promenade route at a time when the tramway still had the appeal of a generation ago with many of the trams still in fleet livery and before the era of radical rebuilds.
The book will appeal to the general reader but will be of particular interest to the tram enthusiast, as it covers a substantial period of tramway operation in the second half of the twentieth century and also the past decade. Virtually all types of trams which have operated in Blackpool during this period are described and documented photographically mainly in colour by the author, or in a few cases, by fellow tram enthusiasts over the past fifty years.
