The Great Catechism of St Gregory of Nyssa is a classic work from this Cappadocian Father. Taking a very different approach to salvation and resurrection to Origen, one of the other great Church Fathers, this work is an important step in the philosophical development of early Christianity. An unconventional thinker whose work can be argued to prefigure postmodernism, he has received increased attention since the latter half of the twentieth century.
