Written by Pere Ubu's singer, David Thomas, ‘Long Live Père Ubu, The Spectacle’ is as groundbreaking and radical in its intent as the original that sparked riots in a Paris theater, in 1896. It is a repudiation of all that is common sense and refined aesthetic at the heart of the Art-Industrial Complex, of which President Eisenhower warned so eloquently... or was it the Military-Industrial Complex? Doesn't matter, same thing really.
"Bring Me The Head Of Ubu Roi" premiered at the Queen Elizabeth Hall in London's Southbank Centre, for a two night run on April 24th and 25th, 2008. It continued performances across Europe and in America under the name ‘Long Live Père Ubu, The Spectacle.’ No two performances were the same.
This book brings together the method, the ideas, the art, the script, the songs and the people who made it all happen.
NOTE that if you order from Ubutique.com there is a free CD of the first performance in London. Unfortunately we are unable to include it on this platform. If you'd like to get in touch with us about having it mailed to you separately, write to us via the contact page at ubuprojex.com
