This publication explores the royal sculptures and artistic traditions of the Bamun (Bamoun) and the Grassfields people in the Grassfields region of Cameroon. It presents richly detailed multi figures sculptures crafted for kings and elites between late q9th and early 20th century, especially during the patronage of Sultan Ibrahim Njoya of Bamun. These artworks characterised by bronze casting, wood carving and bead embellishments-reflect complex iconography tied to kingship, fertility, protection and ancestral lineage. Drowning from royal workshops in Foumban, the sculptures featured here incorporate central figures (Fons or ancestors) surrounded by symbolic attendants. Motifs such as leopards, spiders, chameleons, and twins reveal layers of meaning rooted in Bamun cosmology. These figures were not merely decorative...they were active elements in state rituals, royal funeral and public ceremonies, asserting the authority and spiritual presence of the monarchy.
