Prison is perhaps the most difficult place for spiritual growth and committment. The ancient pre-Christian religious ways of Scandinavia and the Germanic countries—commonly known as Asatru, Odinism, Heathenry, or by still other names—are one of the fastest-growing religions among the US prison population. Unfortunately, this religion is all too often tainted with a foreign ideology of racism and "white supremacy". How can prisoners who are Asatru, Odinist, or Heathen learn about their faith and live it out in daily life, in an authentic way? This book offers a course of study for incarcerated Heathens. It should also be useful for families and friends of inmates, and prison chaplains and administrators, who are interested in learning about Germanic religion as a living tradition today.
