The survey was designed by PMA and was sent to the customers – professional photographers – of 10 U.S. photographic labs. In July, 3,507 photographers/studios responded to the survey. Most photographers work full time – both in studio and from their home – although the survey included 38 percent who work part-time from home. Most who responded to the survey concentrate in general family, wedding, and high-school senior photography markets. Last year the pregnancies/babies category was included with the portrait services category; this year, it was a separate category, and 34 percent responded they do offer those services.
