Mar Narsai (d. 503) has been called the most profound and original theologian of the Assyrian Church of the East. Although he is remembered as the founder of the famous School of Nisibis and one of its greatest teachers, his extensive poetical works earned him the title of the Harp of the Holy Spirit. This volume contains the English translations and studies of four of his homilies (or Memre) dealing with liturgical subjects. Added to this volume is the Syriac text of the homilies from the edition by Alphonse Mingana (Mosul, 1905) which was used as the basis for the translations.
