Laz, only ninteen, prematurely enters heaven, and from there reports about his conflicted family - what they think, what they say and what they do. This family is still grieving a year after the son's sudden shooting death by the Hell's Angels, but Dex, the dad, drifts into hurtful chauvinism and an addiction which results in the mom, Zella, escaping to her mother's mansion. But she perseveres with hope and faith, plus tenacious love. So does Laz's former girlfriend who becomes one of Dex's consciences. An invisible influence takes on a major role in the ultimate transformation but not before a hair raising incident.
