The 1950s were a time of dramatic change for the Northern Michigan community of St. Ignace: The Mackinaw Bridge was yet to be built and a war in Korea was yet to be fought.
Douglas L. Sigler explores three periods of a young man's life as he seeks his adventure, discovers the horror of war, and finds his way home.
Sad Soul Saloon was written as a collection of short stories for a Masters of Fine Arts in Creative Writing thesis at the University of Alaska Fairbanks. Doug successfully defended the thesis and took his MFA in May of 2006.
