The purpose of this guidebook is to help teachers in High School effectively implement the Physical Education and Health (PEH) curriculum. It is designed to stimulate teachers to create exciting and meaningful teaching programs and strategies by enabling the teachers to choose relevant and purposeful teaching activities. It will encourage the teachers to research and look for new and challenging ways of facilitating students’ learning in Physical Education.
The guidebook is based from the K to 12 Basic Education Curriculum. The PEH curriculum states the content and performance standards for the subject and outlines the content, skills and learning competencies the students will learn. This also covers the Most Essential Learning Competencies (MELC) created by the Department of Education, through the Bureau of Curriculum Development – Curriculum Standards Development Division.
It provides direction for teachers in using the outcomes approach in their classroom. The outcomes approach requires the teacher to consider assessment early in their planning.
