Due to the rapid increase of engineering developments in cold regions, and the utilization of ground freezing techniques for civil and mining engineering projects worldwide, there is a need for knowledge of the physical and mechanical properties of frozen soils and hence the need of laboratory testing manual. The book presents detailed description of samples preparations of frozen soils for triaxial and compressibility tests. In addition, the testing procedures and data processing are presented for the following types of tests: 1. Triaxial compression; strain- rate controlled test, 2. Triaxial (and uniaxial) stress- relaxation tests with constant volume, and 3. Compressibility tests. Extensive experimental results are presented as numerical and graphics output of the author’s developed computer program FROZENSOIL.1. The book is written as a testing manual and is a mild stone contribution towards developing comprhensive standards for laboratory testing of frozen soils.
