Math is Everywhere In Nature Exploring Shapes, Sizes, Patterns, and Measurements

Part 2: Other Things in Nature

Math in nature answers the question: When will I get to use math in real life? The answer is that we do – every day. Let us look at some ways we experience math in nature and manmade creations. We find it prudent to discuss the benefits of mathematics in education and student achievement in terms of race/ethnicity gaps, gender gaps, disability gaps, and socioeconomic (SES) gaps. A student’s status in these gaps impacts not only their earnings gap but also their wealth gap and, hence, better life understanding of the natural and manmade world they live in. Part 2: Other natural things are covered, such as higher-order animals, genome, DNA, heart beat, brain, face, body, nails, lower order animals, leopard stripes, animal construction/spider web construction, peacock feathers, snakes, beehives, starafish/sea stars, cockroaches, the claw method, the F. O. I. L. method, trees, leaves, limbs, petals, pine cones, sunflower, snapdragons, crops, plants, textiles, foods, rocks, precious stones, clouds and winds, wood, and sea foam/bubles.
