One might ask, what is the purpose of mathematics, or math for short? The answer is simple: Math helps us develop our life skills, such as critical thinking, decision-making, and problem-solving. Note that math is not a stand-alone element in today's world of educating students; it forms part and parcel of STEAM – Science/Biology, Physics, and Chemistry, Technology/Cyber Tech, Engineering/ Robotics, Arts/English Language Arts (ELA), and Mathematics/Logic. Though the book is math-focused, it will cover the other elements of STEAM in addition to CREG-HL. Math also fosters creativity and stimulates the brain to help us develop strong cognitive skills and focus our attention when completing a task. Your next question might be, well, how is math so powerful? To answer this question, let’s first define what it means. Mathematics is a science that studies quality, structure, space, and change to seek out patterns, formulate new ideas, and establish truth with math properties.
The book also covers the four Cs of learning 21st-century skills: Critical thinking to challenge the brain into activities for solving puzzles and figuring out answers, creativity to think outside the box and try new things in any area, collaboration to bring us together to achieve our goals and objectives, and communication to use different channels for exchanging (send and receive) information, such as sharing thoughts, ideas, and opinions between two or more individuals to build understanding and trust. Speaking of trust, we must exercise caution when surfing the World Wide Web (WWW).
Finally, though tackling a math problem might entail failure and frustration, it is only temporary. Ask for help and use the setback as a stepping stone to conquer life's challenges and develop a positive mindset.
