Neonatal seizures are a commonly encountered neurologic condition especially in neonates. They are narrated as sudden, paroxysmal, abnormal alteration of electrographic activity from birth to the end of the neonatal period. During this period, the neonatal brain is immature regarding development. Thus, neonatal seizures exhibit unique pathophysiology and electrographic findings leading to clinical manifestations that can be different (and more difficult to identify) compared to older age groups. In addition to explaining how to assess and treat neonatal seizures, this activity emphasizes the importance of the interprofessional team in these processes.
