Healing the United Nations – Manifesting Global Security, Peacebuilding and the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR) in the Global Community

ByDr Mark O'Doherty

Dear All, The Global Community should be advised that we have temporarily taken power; to manifest Human Rights (UDHR), International Law and World Peace. Due to the UN's inability to manifest Peace and Prosperity, the UN is like a lost puppy, which needs guidance by the NGO Community to restore its integrity, virtue and power in the Global Community. As it stands, the UN is failing to uphold the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR) in countries such as Ukraine, Russia, America, Myanmar, Iran, North Korea, Haiti, Belarus, Sudan, Syria and Afghanistan. To restore Peace in the Global Community, it is imperative that all Russian forces withdraw from Ukraine. Already in March 2022, the UN General Assembly adopted — by an overwhelming majority of 141 against 5 — a resolution rejecting the Putin regime's illegal invasion of Ukraine and demanding that Russia immediately withdraw its forces and abide by International Law. So why did the UN resolution have no effect? The answer is simple: Because the UN has no power over Russia. In fact, the UN has no power at all; as its authority to uphold International Law in the Global Community hinges on the UN Security Council (UNSC). The UN Security Council (UNSC) is unable to keep the Peace in the Global Community; being controlled by the five permanent members of the UNSC – Russia, China, France, the US and UK – each nation having its own political agenda, putting political issues before humanitarian issues, with the result that the UN Security Council is failing badly to uphold the UDHR and UNCRC. In short, the UN Security Council is a lame duck. This must change. Officials in charge of the UNSC must be non-governmental officials, selected by an independent international body. Military dictatorships, such as the Putin regime, should not be permitted to hold sway over the UNSC; so that International Law can be upheld and illegal wars can be prevented in the Global Community - such as Putin's illegal war on Ukraine. Russia, under the yoke of the illegitimate Putin regime, can effectively veto investigations into Putin's war crimes; which is a systemic failure of the UN. This must change; so that the UN can be effective again. Hence we have temporarily taken power; to manifest Peace, International Law and Justice in the Global Community. As things stand, the UN is failing to uphold its moral obligation of protecting the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR) in countries such as Afghanistan, Myanmar, Ethiopia and Belarus.Although the Taliban promised an amnesty for government and NGO workers, the targeted killing of government employees, especially women who worked for the Afghan security forces, is on the rise.At least five female police officers have been killed in Kandahar, Kapisa and Ghazni provinces. After Ghazni province fell, two female police officers were abducted from Ghazni city and murdered by the Taliban, according to local media. In the past two decades, 4,500 Afghan women have served in the police force, and an estimated 2,000 women were in the Afghan army - who are now being hunted down and killed by the Taliban. Also, a spate of violent attacks on Afghan journalists by the Taliban is prompting growing alarm over the freedom of the country’s media; press freedom having in effect ended in the country.Access to food aid and other life-saving services in Afghanistan is close to running out, the United Nations has warned, as the country is being pushed by the Taliban into an abyss of a humanitarian catastrophe. Now that the Taliban has officially formed a government, the deployment of UN Peacekeeping troops in Afghanistan would be a step in the right direction.UN officials lack the moral fibre to take a stand against terrorism in the world, and are too timid to make the necessary decision of deploying international troops in the region - or so it seems. Also, UN leaders are failing to provide UN Peacekeeping troops the necessary backing to combat and defeat violent extremists and warmongers in failed states. It should also be noted, that there is a high probability of a broader civil war in the region; which would ultimately fester into a reconstitution of Al-Qaeda and a growth of ISIL.Although ISIL and the Taliban claim to be separate organisations, ISIL has done an enormous service to the Taliban - as ISIL's actions are so heinous, they make the Taliban look more 'moderate'; so that the UN has worked up until now with the Taliban.Hence the International Community should do everything in its power to bring violent extremists to justice in the region - including the killers of government employees, especially women who worked for the Afghan security forces. This also includes Russian and Chinese officials, who should stop trying to exploit and capitalize on the humanitarian disaster in Afghanistan; and rather work together with the International Community to defeat terrorism in the region.Hence it is necessary for the International Community to establish its own permanent defence force in the region to defeat terrorism - and that massive forced displacement and humanitarian disaster can be averted. Also, in future the International Criminal Court (ICC) ought to have the power to bring violent extremists and terrorists to justice and detain them in secure prisonsNot only to defeat violent extremism in the world, but also to prevent civilian casualties of military operations – so that justice and rule of law can finally be manifested in the world. So should the UN leadership continue on its course of negligence and impotence, the NGO sector will have to pick up the slack – such as the International Intelligence Community. So that the International Community’s moral responsibility of protecting the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR) can be honoured in the world.Hence the International Community is advised to keep a safe distance from the UN leadership, until these human rights issues have been resolved, and the UN has agreed to evolve and improve itself. In the meantime, peacebuilding policy and human rights issues concerning the United Nations will be handled by the NGO BTB-Global Peacebuilding. It should also be noted, that the evolution of human rights is a divine law in the universe - to improve and manifest positive change in society - such as gender equality, woman's rights, education and academic freedom. This of course also includes manifesting peace and prosperity in countries challenged with human rights abuses; so that everybody can live in safety and peace, and that goodness and decency can prevail in the world.Healing Afghanistan – Restoring the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR) and the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC) in AfghanistanThe Guardian: ‘They left us to die’: UK’s Afghan aid staff in hiding from Taliban / Evacuation of employees, not contractors, ‘splitting hairs’, says HRW, warning of days left to save lives"The Observer view on the Taliban and how they underestimate ordinary Afghans" / Observer editorial: The Islamists haven’t mended their ways but the population they wish to subjugate won’t submit without a struggle"Afghanistan’s shrinking horizons: ‘Women feel everything is finished’ " / The Taliban claim to have changed, but the crackdown has begun for women across the country" ‘Tomorrow they will kill me’: Afghan female police officers live in fear of Taliban reprisals" / With at least four women, including a pregnant mother, targeted and killed by Taliban fighters, female ex-officers feel abandoned by the worldCNN: "Taliban accused of murdering pregnant Afghan policewoman in front of her family"/ Her killing was also confirmed by a local journalist in Ghor, who said she worked in Ghor prison and was eight months pregnant when she died."Afghan women’s defiance and despair: ‘I never thought I’d have to wear a burqa.
