This Otuho-English book is illustrated and specifically designed to assist beginners and learners of the Otuho language who face difficulties with spelling and lack confidence when writing in Otuho. The book is based on the orthography that was adopted during the Torit Orthography Conference of 1982 and 1983 and has since been utilized in South Sudan as a foundation for mother-tongue-based education. The book adopts an eclectic approach to teaching the nine vowels, eighteen consonants, and one digraph of the Otuho language phonemes. This approach combines "top-down," "bottom-up," word shape and pictorial methods to help learners understand the language's reading and writing.
