In the year 1950, the Constitution of India, under the Directive Principles of States Policy, had a provision for free and compulsory education for all children until the age of 14 years. This book strives to provide a balanced view of the different concepts that relate to elementary education and to provide the fundamental information that will allow students to understand the philosophical, sociological, and contemporary issues in education. This book also discusses the history of the Indian Education system, child-rights, and the economics of education, and highlights Indian thinkers and their contributions to education.
