UNIVERSAL CALENDAR OF SAINTS AND SAGES Volume 2

The Universal Calendar of Saints and Sages has been created by a professional teacher of religious studies and philosophy as a tool to increase awareness about the richness and diversity of the world's innumerable faith traditions, intellectual trajectories and philosophical lineages. Destined as a perpetual calendar, each day of the calendar year includes at least 12 entries, one for each of the following traditions: 1 - Christianity 2 - Buddhism 3 - Hinduism 4 - Humanism, including scientists and artists 5 – Pagans, including Druids, Wiccans, classical pagans, primal religious figures, Amerindians, shamans etc. 6 - Islam and Sufism 7 – Judaism 8 – Taoism, Shintoism and Confucianism 9 – Bahaism, Jainism, Sikhism, Zoroastrianism 10 – Esotericism, magic, occultism, theosophy and anthroposophy 11 - Freemasonry 12 – Women scholars, artists, thinkers and sages . Drawing on over 40 years initiation experiences and meetings with wisdom elders, teachers, saints and sages from all over the planet, the work is intended to present the best thinkers and saints from the world’s diverse lineages in a way that can contribute to the advancement of interfaith understanding and world peace. Since we are living through a time of planetary crisis and “emergency” when the diversity of the world’s philosophical and spiritual teaching systems are now jostling for oxygen in a series of endless cultural conflicts and faith-based struggles for hegemony, the purpose of this work is to present to the world the collective wisdom-teachers of humanity, calling us to remember our common goodness and universal moral purposes. Carefully chosen, the sages are representative of the entire spectrum of intellectual and philosophical approaches to the dilemmas involved in the human condition over the entire spectrum of recorded history. Faith communities and interfaith groups can use the text as a manual for study groups who wish to learn more about each other’s neighbouring traditions and lineages. Schools and universities can also use the text as a tremendous resource manual for countless lessons in advanced religious and philosophical studies in which students can be introduced to the greatest minds in human history and learn from their wisdom. As a planetary education manual therefore, the text has no equivalent and is the first and only such comprehensive book to detail each of the diverse intellectual and traditions of planetary history.
