INFLUENCE OF CERTAIN PSYCHO-SOCIOLOGICAL VARIABLES ON ENGLISH ACHIEVEMENT OF CLASS VIII STUDENTS

Achievement has been considered as an important aspect in the academic life of students. It encourages the students to work hard and learn better. Achievement in general refers to the scores attained by the student in an examination and is expressed in grade or marks based on the norms. It also tells the position of a student in a specific area. In brief, achievement is the ability to apply what has been learnt in the real life. This book gives the readers a wonderful experience about class VIII students and their influence of Psycho-Sociological variables on English achievement. Seven Psycho-Sociological tools and a Socio-Demographic scale were employed in this study. Survey type investigation was followed in this study. A questionnaire is prepared to collect the necessary information about the VIII class students. This study is limited to a district in Andhra Pradesh. A sample of 1200 VIII class students representing all categories of high schools is selected by following the standardized procedures. The stratified random sampling was applied by the investigator. The necessary data is collected in a planned way and were analyzed using appropriate statistical techniques and the results were interpreted accordingly.
