
Hypertrichosis lanuginosa is a condition where there is an excess growth of lanugo (hair) all over the body, usually in association with other congenital anomalies; or it may be acquired, with the degree of hairiness being variable, usually involving the face, and in most cases associated with internal carcinoma. These individuals have been referred to as dog-men, hair-men, human Skye terriers, ape-men, werewolves, and Homo sylvestris; it has only recently been traced to an insertion in a specific region of the X chromosome. Congenital, generalized hypertrichosis may have symptoms like Delayed eruption of teeth, Hearing impairment, Thick eyebrow, Abnormality of skin pigmentation, Gingival overgrowth, Autosomal dominant inheritance, Double eyebrow.
