'The Diary of Jesus' is a fictional exploration of how Jesus may have felt; his inner feelings, not just as Son of God, but as one of us: a fragile human being. It is fiction, yet it takes seriously the insight that Jesus was both wholly human and wholly divine.
To that extent, even though this story follows the Gospel of Matthew, the author's thoughts kept returning to the Gospel of Luke, chapter 2, where the writer states that Jesus "grew in wisdom and stature." So his book explores the thought that Jesus probably went through some earth-shattering moments as he grew in realisation of his own nature, ability and destiny. He did not arrive "fully programmed." Instead, 'The Diary of Jesus' reflects what he may have written as he progressed in his understanding both of his relationship with his Father, and his place within his Father's will.
