Havamal: Sayings of the High One

ByE. Max Hyatt

Usually printed in 3 - 5 business days
Considered by many to be the most important manuscript in all of Northern European Ancestral Religion, it is actually in the form of a very long poem (over 5,000 words). Originally transmitted orally from generation to generation, it was written down around 1,000 years ago. Part of a larger manuscript known as the Codex Regius, Hávamál has received more attention than most other Eddas. Within Hávamál Odin (the co-progenitor of the European Race and gods) speaks to us about many things— from the mundane aspects of material life, to the spiritual realities of sacrifice... from always being prepared to defend oneself, to the importance of friendship— Hávamál states it bluntly, directly, and without compromise. This special expanded edition presents the Lee M. Hollander translation as the main body of the book. Appendix A contains the complete text in the Old Norse language - the original language of the Codex Regius. And Appendix B offers a modern-day translation, in straightforward, simple English.
