Commentarii in .XXIV. Thesibus Thomisticis (Softcover)

Fr. Edouard Hugon, O.P. (1867-1929) was instrumental in the compilation of the XXIV Thomistic Theses under Pope Pius X. A professor at the Pontificium Collegium Internationale Angelicum, he was one of the most erudite theologians of his age. Shortly after the publication of the Theses, Hugon wrote this commentary, originally in French, to guide readers to a more in-depth understanding. The book is divided into four sections: I. Ontology, building up the foundations of Thomistic metaphysics; II. Cosmology, discussing, among other topics, matter, extension, and quantity; III. Biology and Psychology, reviewing the soul generally, its different grades, its faculties, and more; IV. Theodicy, studying the Divine Essence, the act of Creation, and the five proofs for God from S. Thomas. Hugon builds up the fundamental principles of Thomism from little more than simple common sense, illuminating and explicating each thesis and thereby the whole framework of the philosophy and theology of S.
