Many roads lead out of the ghetto. Logee, a young man from Brooklyn, stands at the crossroads. Will he succumb to the temptations of the street or will he accept the wisdom offered by his friend Wahid, to save himself, and enhance the lives of his friends and community?
A fictional work, The Reminder, is based on the whirlwind existence of life in urban projects. It enters the minds of the inhabitants of New York’s “concrete jungle” and demonstrates a snapshot glimpse into the cultural, economic, and social currents shaping life in poverty-stricken urban ghettos. In this microcosm of society, domestic abuse and death are the constant companions of its inhabitants.
The Reminder avails the reader an opportunity to see life through the eyes of its characters as they struggle through depression, anger, ignorance, confusion, and frustration. It leaves one to ponder, are good intentions sufficient to triumph over the negative cycles of violence and the acceleration of urban decay?
