Salaman and Absal is an allegorical story of two classic Persian lovers, beautifully narrated by Maulana Abdur-Rahman Jami. He teaches the Divine Love through the narration of folk tale of these lovers, as is common in classical Sufi poetry. Jami (1414-1492) is one of the best classical Persian poets, though he is more known as a Sufi Shaykh and an author of many classical Islamic books. He belonged to Herat in now Afghanistan.
