How can the ARTS and CREATIVE EXPRESSION be used as powerful tools for learning and engagement? How can the passion found in creativity move participants from inspiration to action as leaders for social change? El Puente Creative Justice Approach derives from a multi-year Participatory Action Research study conducted by Pedro Pedraza, Cristina Medellin-Paz, and Melissa Rivera from the Center for Puerto Rican Studies (El Centro) at the City University of New York (CUNY). They worked with El Puente facilitators and participants to identify their most impactful practices. The Global Justice Institute works to codify and clarify all of El Puente’s best practices AND to translate those practices for use in the wider field. We do this by publishing our frameworks and curriculum and by facilitating curated trainings for groups interested in learning about El Puente’s frameworks in a hands-on way.
