There's nothing like a fit of rage to show someone's true colors -- a fitting motto for Scarlet Peridot's life as such an explosion of anger exposes a shocking, but obvious in retrospect, truth: she is not human. She and her parents are members of a set of alien races who came to earth as refugees, her species being able to manipulate fire and heat. Upon entering this new world, Scarlet moves underground to the country where her people live and begins training with the dragon queen Aisha to master her abilities. Scarlet's life is continually made more difficult by literally uncontrollable fits of rage because of the people they cause her to hurt. The question on everyone's mind is the same: will she rise to the fulness of her potential or will she bring everything down around her?
