This book compiles some of my favorite works from this year, and shows how my writing changed from one of my first stories to more recent writing. You can expect to be entertained, interested, and even challenged by these works. Overall, they blend together to create a unique mix of storytelling and past experiences. "A Journey" is a short story that details the life of a blooming genius. He deals with unexpected trouble after thinking he has achieved everything. After creating an unlimited, cutting-edge energy source, Pat realizes that it can be used for sinister means as well. This story will have you interested, and then taken aback at the tragedy that the main character faces. You may even learn a thing or two about gratitude and courage in the face of danger "Upside Down" is a story about a young kid, Pat, who comes from humble backgrounds on an alien planet. However, things soon change, as Pat is told that he has to save the universe, and is thrown into a spaceship and sent out into the unknown. This one will surely have you on the edge of your seat as Pat goes from a simple life to having the entire universe depend on him. The interesting settings, overarching themes, and sense of adventure makes this one special. The value of intuition and bravery can go a long way, as Pat learns quickly. It's safe to say that he will be careful what he wishes for in the future. "My Roots" is a memoir that details one of my childhood experiences and how I remember them. My elementary school days were a special time for me, and in this memoir the reader gets a taste of that feeling and how I was influenced by that place. The main story is of a certain recess where conflict ensued, friends were made, and students came together to form bonds. Overall, it gives the sense of how our childhood experiences influence us so much more than we sometimes realize. It makes you want to return to that time, where everything was so simple...
