The most difficult thing for a loving human being is to lose whoever they are closest to. Elise, the metaphor Orchid from the title, has been through just such an experience. She had never conceived of the situation she found herself in. It was like trying to fly with only one wing. It was a diz-zying, exhausting, falling experience and the fall went on and on and on. These poems represent the Orchid’s tears.
Elise wrote in her journal and wrote poetry as an outlet to express just what she was feeling and going through. The result was deep beautiful soulful poetry and prose. Fortunately for the rest of us, she has decided to share that writing with the rest of the world.
In the end, nothing can cage the will of a loving spirit, even death. What is striking to me is that even in the midst of horrible grief, a beautiful heart is still a magnificent and wondrous thing to behold. See for yourself.
