Too often the question of "why" a woman would stay in a dangerous relationship leaves the inquirer with a self-righteous conclusion that: 1)it was never really "that bad" in the first place; or 2)the abused woman must have done something in the first place to be abused. This story is about a devoted Christian woman's internal struggles as she makes sense with her faith with God, her desire to do life God's way in the midst of dealing with an abusive and controlling husband; and how the religious leaders around her and her own understanding of Christian living kept her in a perpetual and ever-increasing danger for her safety and that of her children. For a woman of faith and her desire to be faithful to the understanding of Christian living when church teachings leaves no room for personal safety; her options become very limited, if any. This novel tries to give insight to the thoughts and struggles a woman of faith has when church doctrine becomes toxic for her.
