On August 31, 1922, the Bowers family elders sent the young men to the family cemetery to clean the graves. As a reward, the mothers and grandmothers promised a picnic at the family spring. While there, they discovered they had gathered on the birthday of their patriarch, Job Bowers, and vowed to meet every year and do the same. This book is a record of the next 99 years of reunions of the descendants of Job Bowers and Elizabeth Ballenger Bowers. The record spans a century of changes, in society, the world, and families and lists the names of attendees each year. The Bowers family has a history of enjoying their time together, and some make the journey each year from great distances to join their kin, showing that the bond between family members remains strong.
