Words of the Pocket

A short collection of poetry on a variety of topics. Samples: The duck waddles up to the edge of the pond. Calm water today. Coolness envelops its feet as it dips them below the surface. A shiver grips the bird but then fades away. It sets out across the pool. ------ You take a shortcut down an alley. A door stands quietly along the wall. It is an unusual door. A strange door. You find it oddly enticing. You walk past it. You’re in a hurry. Perhaps another time. ------ The machine stands before a well. There’s a tarnished coin tucked between its fingers. With a clink, it tosses its treasure into the unseen depths. What lies in that oily heart, not even it knows. Perhaps time will tell.
