It is a collection of essays from renowned professors in the field and each contributor deals with an important area of the subject, from a comprehensive profile of African female playwrights through the examination of the writer as woman, to essays on particular playwrights and plays that belong to the canons of African dramatic literature. Before this book was written, African drama was dominated by males who also dominated the criticism of these plays.
