We have watched pitifully overtime how African families have snubbed ‘’cross-cultural experiences and practices’’ of propagating family businesses in America, Europe, Asia, United Kingdom, etc; and thereby destroying timeless businesses; one after the other, soon after the demise of the originator or owner. This twist of events is dissimilar to experiences of businesses elsewhere. Businesses that have thrived and blossomed for three to five centuries i.e the gold wrist watch in Austria. What you about to read, therefore; puts perpetrators of businesses in Africa on the stead of perpetuating businesses, as a ‘’going concerned’’; not as a ‘’success that needs business succession’’. This misnomer – business succession; is the first misstep ever by African genre business people; which makes ‘’pass on’’ of business look like a hotchpotch, instead of being a ‘’calculated and structured continuation’’, or ‘’business perpetuity’’. Let me not talk you too deep into this book, as to deprive you of savoring it; since the book says so much about things taken for granted, and for too long in Africa; which has produced too many damaging directors for family businesses in Africa. Few Africans that ‘’stand tall’’ in global business; have always been more than excellent and superlative in performing, achieving and transcending. If Africans have excelled in certain special endeavors globally; they can even do better in perpetuated family businesses. The African business lamp must no longer be hidden under the bushel.
