Tommy Wakatsuki is an eight-year-old boy living with his parents in California when his life is changed forever.
December 7, 1941 is a day that started off like any other. But after the bombing at Pearl Harbor and his Japanese American father's subsequent arrest, Tommy's world is turned upside-down. He soon finds himself alone at Manzanar, a Japanese American internment camp. This story, written by high school students, follows a young boy's struggle to find happiness in a place he never imagined he would be.
