The Danish West Indies In Black and White

The Danish West Indies in Black and White uses more than 500 black and white images to tell the story of the people, places and events that helped transform the Danish West Indies into the United States Virgin Islands. The United States Purchased the Danish West Indies from Denmark in 1917 for $25,000 in gold. Most images are of black and whit postcards from the period 1900 to 1930.
