Ernest Sartorius is considered to be on of the great names among the Lutheran Confessional Dogmaticians of the 19th Century. He was born on May 10, 1797 in Darmstadt and died on May 13, 1859 in Königsberg. He studies at the University of Goettingen. He worked as the professor of Systematic Theology at the University of Tartu and latter at the professor of theology at the University of Dorpat. He was the author of numerous theological works. He atracted the attention of many by his critizism of the false principles of Enlightenment's rationalism and as a confessional defender of the true principles of Protestantism.
The work that you are holding in your hands is his most known publication on dogmatics in which the author presented most fully his Christological system. Originally it was a series of popular lectures on Christology, translated from German and originally published by the Religious Tract Society on 1838 in London.
