Battle of the Gods is a gripping adventure story for 9 to 12 year-olds that transports its readers to a far-away country where myth and magic are interwoven with exotic present-day reality. It is set in a remote mountainous area in Mexico. This particular kind of fantasy will be familiar to young people brought up on Hollywood films, but the world they enter is one which has hardly been explored in children’s fiction or film. The mythology of Mexico is full of terrifying gods who often demand human sacrifice, and the main characters have to confront two of these gods who are battling each other for supremacy. If they are to restore the balance and save not only their own lives, but the lives of millions of innocent people, they have to solve a series of ancient riddles.
