About Jack Fitzsimons

This series of books was inspired by the poetry of Aye Maunng. He was born in Burma in 1930 and started writing poetry when aged about 60. His poetry presents a narrative of Burman life from Independence, the nearby Communist Revolution in China, the long period of isolation and to more recent events. Most poems are centred on the period in which The Union of Myanmar was isolated from the rest of the world. A period of economic and technological stagnation where religion and culture dominated the existence. His accounts are an introspective warts an' all reflection of a long life in a country of which the world knows very little. These books are collaborative works initiated by Fabiana Tessele, containing the poetry of Aye Maunng with Jack Fitzsimons.
