Not Not Architecture Mook - 07

This is a mook, a book as periodical magazine. It primarily contains projects and texts by students of the Advanced Architecture Studio taught by Andrew MacNair at Columbia University's Graduate School of Architecture, Planning and Preservation. This is the thirteenth studio examining three territories within the expanding field of architecture: Architecture, Not Architecture, Not Not Architecture to go beyond narcissism and megalomania. We work between memory and imagination to make didactic, polemical prescriptive buildings that are good for something. We ask questions and solve problems - inside and out, up and down, here and there, near and far. The studio engages high and low art architecture as well as the everyday ad hoc, vernacular, pop, and kitsch as a counter-point to the vacuous cartoon. The Budget is Time, and the Client is the Mind. The dictum is simply: Sneeze! Build it!
