A Literature Review for the Role of Strategic Procurement in making the Public Sector become a Customer of Choice

Public sector organisations from all over the world have experienced cost cutting, challenges to their quality of service expectations and also expectations related to their efficiency and mission fulfilment. These organisations are now expected to do more with less and this means that the procurement function has assumed a greater importance because enhancing this function has an overall impact. The traditional approach to procurement cannot work well in tight economic times and suppliers want the public sector to lift its game so that they can interact more effectively with the public sector organisations to make bottom line improvements.This literature review presents an examination of the role of strategic procurement in making the public sector a customer of choice.
