Are there Advantages to Treating a Patient with a Subarachnoid Haemorrhage with Endovascular Coiling rather then Neurosurgical Clipping?

Subarachnoid haemorrhage, or SAH, refers to the medical condition which results from the weakening of cerebral arteries and the formation of abnormal focal pouch like protrusion, which are known as aneurysms, in these arteries which either bleed or are in danger of becoming ruptured. Population based studies have indicated that the incidence of SAH in the United Kingdom is around 10 cases per 100,000 of population on an annual basis. This dissertation presents a discussion about the relative advantage of using endovascular coiling as opposed to neurosurgical clipping as a treatment for SAH related aneurysms.
