Augmented reality presents a mix of real world information and additional computer generated information to a user. Such a mix of information is usually presented by superimposing two distinct sets of images on to a monitor or a head mounted display which enables a viewer to observe a mix of the real world and computer generated text or images. Even though the visual sense is not the only sense which can be used to present and perceive computer altered reality, visual presentations are the most used in augmented reality systems. This essay presents a discussion of the potential and the problems of augmented reality systems.
