Governments around the world in developed countries with advanced health systems are under pressure to ensure that the health systems are delivering real benefits to the citizens and that an adequate quality of health care is being provided. This means that the resources that are being spent on healthcare are required to deliver benefits because these resources are not limitless. In such a scenario, both Business Process Reengineering or BPR and Total Quality Management or TQM have been found to be of use in the management of healthcare systems and facilities. This paper presents a literature review for BPR and TQM in healthcare.
