Global Warming and its Implications for Economic Development and Food Production

ByFarrukh Khan

Planet earth has previously witnessed a change in global weather patterns that have resulted in periods of warming followed by an ice age. However, the rates at which temperatures have increased around the world since the coming of the industrial revolution remain unmatched in recorded history. Increased concentrations of carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases that are produced as a result of the burning of hydrocarbon fuels and industrial activity has resulted in a global warming which has resulted in higher temperatures around the world. Global warming will bring about complex changes in natural systems on earth that will also affect global agriculture and food production. This essay presents a discussion about the impact of global warming on agriculture and food production around the world.
