Online Learning Environments and Teacher Training of English Teachers (ELT)

Education and training have faced a number of challenges in the past decade as a result of changes in political, educational and technological trends and the teaching of the English language has also been in need of new approaches. Although the English language has been accepted as being a lingua franca for some time, new learner demand from nations that have only recently opened up to the world, such as China and the states in Eastern Europe, have added new dimensions to the teaching of English. This dissertation presents a discussion about online learning environments and the use of courses that have been developed in such environments for the training of English language teachers.
