The Serenade for Strings is a typical composition of the Hamburg composer Ferdinand Thieriot (1838-1919). The first movement is reminiscent of comparable works by Grieg and Tschaikowsky. The Intermezzo (3rd movement) is a Viennese waltz, as its good friend Johannes Brahms could not have composed it better. It is a very rewarding work for strings, which gives pleasure to players and listeners alike.
