Men, Beasts, and Gods tells the story of Ferdynand Antoni Ossendowski's 10,000 km march from Siberia through Mongolia to safety in China as he leads a band of White Russian refugees out of the madness of the Russian civil war and into Mongolia's brutal struggle for independence. Enlisted to aid the "Mad Baron" Ungern-Sternberg, Ossendowski must fight for his life in this gripping true story. Soldier, scientist, spy, novelist, and dissident, Ferdynand Anotni Ossendowksi led many lives as a political refugee from the Soviets. From 1917-1920 Ossendowski worked as a university professor in Siberia, until the Russian revolution forced him and many other Russians to flee thousands kilometers on foot to Mongolia. Once there, he enlisted in the forces of Roman von Ungern-Sternberg, where he acted as political advisor and chief of intelligence. It is rumored that he helped the Baron to hide his vast fortune somewhere in the Mongol stepp before leaving for America.
