Sandy Point Archaeology

ByDennis KnepperRaymond Hayes

Usually printed in 3 - 5 business days
Prepared by an international team of historians and archaeologists, this book combines analyses of the terrestrial and underwater landscapes of Sandy Point Town on the Caribbean island of St.Christopher, known today as St. Kitts. Sandy Point Town was the location of the original trading center for the English insular Caribbean region. The focus of the research is the historical archaeological evidence for the military and naval defenses that supported the early commercial centers of the town at Pump Bay and Downing Street. The study involved extensive archaeological surveys both on shore and underwater. The work was aided by volunteers from the island including youths from local schools, who assisted in documenting the archaeological sites while learning some of the basic skills of heritage preservation.
